Visiting the park there was always a treat for us, but revisiting pictures of Naomi then and seeing how much she's grown is just remarkable. Last day of swim class and she graduated to a mermaid! 🧜🏼‍♀️ Naomi can now swim! I am so proud considering when we started six weeks ago she was terrified of putting her face in the water. Even a splash on her face caused her panic & anxiety. Not anymore! It took us three summers of being patient and using a slow, gentle approach that would ease her in and trusting Jennifer’s mindful method! Feeling sick to my stomach as the number of children separated from parents grows. 2300 and growing! Call your representatives and donate to either ACLU or ActBlue which divides your contribution evenly between 14 organizations (including ACLU) that are working to protect migrant children from being separated from their families at the border.. As an immigrant myself this is so upsetting.

I do my best to be present as much as possible yet in a blink of an eye here we are, Naomi graduated kindergarten! 💗 Naomi, you have grown so much but I’ve grown right along with you which took me by surprise! Kindergarten is so much about social development and it was really challenging for me to practice letting go, letting go of wanting to fix each conflict, letting go of telling you what to do. Letting go of telling you that you’re too little to have boy crushes or wanting to get married. 😆 I tried not to judge each situation (failed at times), instead I tried to guide, support and encourage you to face those experiences and challenges and I myself received guidance and support from all of the amazing mamas around me. I let you make mistakes and learn from them. We celebrated your efforts vs outcome. It’s a tricky balance but we are figuring it out together.
